Comparing IPX3 vs IPX4 Waterproof Ratings
I've always been into innovations, especially those splashproof ratings on units. So, I've been looking at the IPX3 and IPX4 ratings lately. It's pretty impressive understanding how they're different.
You gotta check out those Splashproof ratings like IPX3 and IPX4 when you're buying a gadget. The IEC sets the protocols for these ratings, telling you how well a unit will protect against moisture and particles. Like, IPX3 means your unit can handle water coming from all directions for a bit, but IPX4 is stronger, it can take water sprays from anywhere.
IPX3 is the lower end of the waterproof spectrum, but it's still a considerable advancement over unprotected units. I tested my phone with the IPX3 rating, and it functioned well after being in water for a few moments. But, keep in mind, IPX3 isn't great for submersible stuff; it can only handle water exposures from any direction.
IPX4 rating is better than IPX3 in terms of protection level. I tried out my gadget with the IPX4 rating rating, and it was fine even when liquid was sprayed all over it. That kind of protection level is good for things like athletic activities outside or even using your gadget in the bathroom.
So, comparison between IPX3 to IPX4 rating, IPX4 rating just seems way better at prevent from entering liquid and dust. Even though IPX3 is a big improvement from gadgets that aren't liquid-resistant, IPX4 rating is the way to go if you want to keep your equipment safe during outdoor activities and even in the bathroom.
